So many books… a video

An event celebrating our writers!

On November 29 we held an event celebrating the work of six writers from our community, all of whom have published books over the past two years.

In the autumn of 2019, John Badertscher released his book, Ten Steps on Freedom Road on the Resource Publications imprint, and then a few months later the COVID-19 pandemic hit and effectively closed down his ability to share the book in any in-person gatherings. Then over the course of the pandemic, five other writers from our community brought books into print: Adeline Berg’s The Orange Couch on Wheels, Jan Woltmann’s A Brain Tumour Changes Everything, Jamie Howison’s A Kind of Solitude, Angeline Schellenberg’s Fields of Light and Stone, and most recently Samantha Klassen’s The Threads of Vocation: a comic. Now that we are again able to host at least some gatherings, it is was wonderful to celebrate these authors and to make their work available!

On Monday November 29 we hosted an in-person book event at the church, which was attended by thirty people, with others joining us on Facebook Live and YouTube. The event introduced the audience to these authors, and included brief readings from the various books.

Copies of the books were available for purchase that evening, and will also be available for purchase over the Sunday evenings leading up to Christmas Day.

If you are interested in purchasing a book but won’t be able to get to the church on that night or over the following three Sundays, please contact us and we’ll see what we can arrange.
