Eleanor May: video

Early in July we released a music podcast featuring a new song by Gord Johnson, "Eleanor May", based on his experiences working as a Spiritual Health Practitioner at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre. The podcast included some reflections on Winnipeg’s North End, and why it had such appeal to Gord’s “Eleanor May” character.

Now Gord has produced this video, featuring the North End photography of John Paskievich, from his pictorial book, The North End Revisited. Together the song and the photographs paint a poignant picture of the North End, and what it might mean to call that neighbourhood home.

Eleanor May is the story of a fictitious character who is on a hospital ward, dying and longing to go home. It is born out of my experiences and observations...
