Bishop Royal is a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of the Arctic , with responsibility as the Director of the Arthur Turner Training School in Iqaluit, as well as an array of episcopal responsibilities in various communities across that vast diocese.

To give some sense of the vastness of the Diocese of the Arctic, it one of the largest in the episcopal territories in the world, covering Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavik.
