Looking for Hope

On a cold and snowy night in January a full house gathered at Hildegarde’s Bakery in Winnipeg, in the wintery centre of Canada. We were there looking for hope.  Our guide was Zoe Matties, a member of saint benedict’s table and the Manitoba program director for A Rocha Canada.

That’s an international Christian environmental group writing a new story of possibility and hope while the depressing and distressing effects of climate change rage like a prairie storm. In this episode Zoe explains how and why A Rocha dares to sketch a new reality in these dark days and she gives us three concrete ways to live more abundantly and lessen our impact on the earth.

This is a recording of our semi-regular ideaExchange series which is where we head to the other side of the stained glass to wrestle with ideas of faith and action. This is the first of several programs about creation care that we are planning in 2020, especially as we approach the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in April.

Find out more about Zoe here. Learn more about A Rocha on their website and on Facebook.

This podcast is created at saint benedict’s table, a congregation of the Anglican Church of Canada in Winnipeg. We’ve been podcasting since 2006 and put a renewed focus on this ministry in 2019.
Our goal is to provide rich and stimulating audio resources to the wider church and engage topics and issues relevant to the concerns and questions of the larger culture in which we live.
